The iC-LG is an optical high-resolution system-on-chip position encoder featuring various interfaces including BiSS. A set of 62 embedded photosensors is used to scan the code disc pattern representing the angular position. The chip monitors all relevant operational parameters, such as the device temperature with a min/max alarm, for instance. The BiSS Interface is used to service motion controllers within short update cycles of a few microseconds at data rates of 10 Mbit/s and above.
